Do fiberglass pans really have a history of leaking that bad?

not if you bed them

bedding them takes the flex out of the pan, which will also keep from flexing the drain connection....which is usually where they'd start cracking

I have seen everything from sand to sheet rock mud as a bed...

IIRC, I used mortar mix when I did mine.

Get an acrylic pan if you don't have one already. They look better and are more durable, and of course they cost more........

I've done those before. Thats what's in the master. This is going in the downstairs playroom area. My wife didn't want to have to clean any more tile showers .

that one looks like it's got some good bottom support but i still bed all shower pans
