last year I spent time trying out different types of pistol - sampling the buffet to see wht I might like the best. What happened over time is that I realized I liked my CZ 75D better than all the rest. I realized this, of course, after I traded it away. I started looking for a replacement this year, but as Woodman can tell you, finding a CZ in Georgia isn't easy at the moment.

Finally this weekend I was able to fill the CZ void, with a CZ. Almost.
I looked at these guns last year at Academy Sports, and as I owned a CZ at the time I didn't bother trying one. In the last few weeks these are back in stock again, and after a trade meet with Mikey357 on Friday I dropped by Academy and picked one up. It is a Tristar C100 - a CZ 75 compact clone manufactured by Canik55 in Turkey. Canik55 is known for making high quality guns, and while the C100 is budget piece, that quality is still evident. The frame is said to be made of steel alloy, and while I don't know what specific alloy, it is surprising light. The DA/SA action is light on the SA side but the DA is heavy with an abrupt break and could use some work.

Here's the good news:
- Academy sells the C100 for only $349.
- As you can see in the pics my VZ grips fit perfectly
- The night sights for a CZ 75 will also fit, and I have ordered a set to try.
- CZ Compact 14 round mags should work with this gun (most other folks report success)
- Cajun Gun Works, a company specializing in CZs has a complete spring set, that will lighten and smooth the action - for about $30.

This an experiment/project with the goal of replacing my previous expensive CZ PCR for close to half the cost. The spring kit should arrive in a few days, and I am looking forward to the results.

If you have wanted to try a CZ this is cheaper way to get your foot in the door.

Not a bad idea, I just gave up on finding one locally and ordered online. Still waiting on it....so we'll see how long it takes. Ordered from Kentucky Gun Co. This looks like a cool little project, keep us updated.

I have the T-100 Baby Desert Eagle Compact clone and the T-120 Baby Desert Eagle clone. Like you said the Turks make a quality pistol. Spring kit from CGW is next. I ordered 19 rnd Mecgar mags for the SP01 and they work flawlessly. A guy on the net has awesome prices on these and if he is out of stock it usually doesn't take long for him to get them in stock. Check out http://gregcotellc.com/cart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=97_130 his prices blow away Midway and the rest.

Thanks for the heads up on source for mags. If you have any experience with the CGW spring kits, please share.

I meant to put "CGW spring is NEXT" but it came out NEST, which probably came out BEST-LOL!! Woops...no experience with the spring kit but based upon the czclone forums it is the cats meow. I just haven't got around to it-I have 5 other project guns going and I swore I would not buy another kit or project until I cleaned up what I have now!!!!

That is awesome. You need to do a review when the trigger kit comes in. :thumb:

Will do. When the parts arrive I plan do a little polishing on the internals to smooth the action.

A couple of things I'll need help with:

- I can install the front sight, but I dont have a tool to push on the rear sight.

- If anyone has the right tool I'd like to measure the trigger pull before and after the spring kit.
