If you have a new iPhone, skip the 4g iPad. You can setup a personal hotspot on your phone and use the connection with your iPad. Should save you a few bucks on your purchase.

A lot of carriers charge extra on your monthly bill for this, just FYI

No, you just have to have a shared data plan which, for me, worked out cheaper than adding a data plan for every device.

My plan is with AT&T. I have a 20gb shared plan that is shared collectively through all the devices. I want to say the primary line is charged $40/month for the data plan, then each additional device is only $10 instead of having multiple $35/month data plans with 2gb max.

The plans have changed a little, I pay $30 for 3gigs on my iPad and only turn it on when I'm traveling. The new share plans are: 20 gig for $200 +$30 for each smart phone, $20 for hotspot and $10 for tablets.
If they had the plans like yours still available, I'd go that route. Thanks for the info.

Back to the topic, if you have AT&T service, get a iPad4 with Verizon wireless. You can put you AT&T mini SIM card in the iPad and have service anywhere. If the AT&T isn't working plug into the Verizon device and resume business.

I have an ipad 2 and love it. Originally bought an acer iconic tab with android and it would bail out of the web browser for no reason. Took it back and exchanged it for this ipad. Googled the problem and its a flaw in android, including the popup ads that I don't get with the Apple.

You get what you pay for.

I made that mistake with the printer I bought. Nice HP wireless printer...unfortunately no AirPrint.

HP has an app you can use to print with the ipad.
