Is it legal for a company to require me to surrender my GA DL to gain entry?

I'm sure that is true. Policies differ from company to company. The company where I'm employed has a written policy that is actually enforced. The DL's are secure and security personnel are trained, certified, and background checked.

Are one of those security officers?

Any time I make any comment about my reluctance to hand over my ID, they get a huge attitude... Every day we hear about stolen identities and tax refund fraud etc...

I am an employee of a large company that is being sent into a building to do work for another business. The building is usually the one requiring the ID.

I am OK with showing my ID, but leaving it with the gaurd is BS and I have heard it isn't legal.
