Is the Ar10 worth it?

I have a Colt 6920 I would like to get SBRd but I have no idea where to start on filling out the form and submitting it. That would be awesome.
I'm off until the 2nd. Come down, shoot at 300, bring your trust and we will get it done. Even eat some amazing BBQ. You can try my suppressors out too.

I had to have an AR 308. Thought it was gonna be the baddest "battle" rifle I would own. I bought a bushmaster AR 308. Was grinning ear to ear. After shooting it slowly to sight in I decided to shoot it as if ISIS was comin to chop my head off. ISIS being targets I had set up. I couldn't hit crap to save my life. I tuck my tail go inside and think the 308 is not a horrible round and can be accurate. I decided I wanted a 308 bolt action that was built up (nothing like what I have seen on here at times) but by gosh I could get a shot off chamber a round get back on target in good time over and over and now I am happy. Not that anything I said matters I just would like to be Bypass the day he goes to NWSharpshooters.

If you like shooting .30 caliber, then yes. I have a Bushmaster ORC with a 16" barrel (mid length gas). It was fairly light before I put a rifle length tube and heavy scope and mount on it. Even with a 16" barrel it rings steel just fine at 600 yards. Shoots softer than a PTR91 and an M1A in my opinion, but not as soft as a Garand. Same controls as AR15. Easily customizable at home. Uses PMAGS. 100 percent reliable so far.

I'm satisfied, but those new, lighter DPMS variants look interesting.

I enjoy shooting my LR308. It wouldn't be my first choice in battle rifles but it has the accuracy and power to reach out to 500+ yards to make a difference. I like the similarities between it and the AR platform. For me, it was worth it.

I'm all about some M14/M1As, especially after reading Boston's Gun Bible (great book, maybe a bit dated but still solid info on battle rifles and marksmanship). Love the gas system on the M1As compared to the AR10/AR15 platforms. Had a PTR91, but being left-handed the charging handle was impossible to reach with the rifle shouldered. Love the AR15 platform but wish the AR10 platform was as standardized, parts-wise. Only complaint on the M1A is that there aren't many inexpensive folding stocks.

I may get flamed for this but I don't have a purpose for shooting 308 other than touting my manhood and lightening my wallet. I prefer heavier hitting calibers for big game hunting (300 mag). I prefer smaller calibers for medium sized game hunting (whitetail - 6.8spc). I prefer 12 gauge for self defense.

I'm sure if I was into 308 then I would definitely be on-board with a more lightweight rifle like an AR-10.
