Is there a 30 carbine upper?

9mm and .30 carbine are not close!

.30 Carbine:
USGI ball load
110grn @ 1990fps for 967 ft/lbs.

9mm 18" barrel:
Federal 115grn JHP: 1277fps for 416 ft/lbs
Cor-Bon 115grn +P JHP: 1477fps for 557 ft/lbs
Federal 135grn HydraShok: 1241fps for 454 ft/lbs
Federal 147grn HydraShok: 1073fps for 376 ft/lbs

Before you argue over bullet design, Speer loads a 110grn Gold Dot .30 Carbine at 1,990fps/967 ft/lbs.

The USGI .30 Carbine ball load will penetrate IIIA armor at close range. Can't think of an OTC 9mm load that will do the same.

Build me a 30 carbine upper i know you have the connections to do it.

Hah! I'll admit, I wasn't even aware anyone did a .30 Carbine upper or AR until now.

Personally, I don't really get it, but I've owned and built plenty of firearms over the years to satisfy a personal itch that others "didn't get". Back in the day, .30 Carbine made sense when military arms used calibers like the .30-06. We needed a compact, lightweight carbine. Nowadays, you can get a much more capable caliber; 5.56, 5.45, 7.62x39mm, etc. in the same size or weight as one in .30 Carbine.

I'm a huge fan of the M1 Carbine, however.

Dang, that will teach me to check my facts before opening my mouth.

I swear I read that on the internets somewhere so it must've been true.

Oh, and this thread needs more carbine!

I know not OTC but when I was shooting USPS open I was sending 124g bullets out at 1500 fps. 9MM major. Don't know the ft-lbs that equates to.
