I'm watching a show called 'Pig Bomb' on the Destination Channel filmed in 2008 and they make it seem as though South GA is over-run by vicious wild hogs.

I lived in PA for the past 12 years so I have been away for awhile but don't remember hogs running through the streets of small towns like the show mentions as happening before. I lived in Marshallville and Fort Valley back in the early '70s and practically lived outside and never saw a wild pig or remember anyone talking about them. I do remember packs of dogs being a problem and the farm near us lost a few Brahma calves to them, but other than snakes and deer I don't remember any other nuisance animals.

If someone is having a problem with hogs please let me know if I can help...I love bacon.

Anyone who farms pecans, peanuts soybeans, or corn has a real problem with them. 2.5 litters a year, with 8-10 per litter, by the end of the year, the first litter is pregnant! Do the math and you will see that without predation by something (us) they will overrun any habitat!!

All (well most, at least) of their natural predators are gone...nature's checks and balances are out of balance.

Time for man to intervene...

I call BS. Especially for farmers claiming they are over run by hogs. Just ask that same farmer to hunt his property, or look for a "Hog" lease . All you'll see is an out reached hand to be greased. If the problem is so bad they should be welcoming hunters. Look at the number of hog guides making money by signing up clients on both sides farmer pays for hog eradication, guide brings in paying hunters as well... Nothing against guides making a buck.. but come on if it's that bad the guides would be hiring sharpshooters... just my 2 pennies....
