Everything I own shoots .223, 9MM or 45 ACP and I'm just too scared to shoot any of my SHTF stash for practice. Since just about every common type of ammo out there is almost impossible to come by (even .22LR!), can anyone out there think of anything that shoots something that's still relatively cheap and easy to come by? It seems that 7.62x54R is still cheap and easy to find but I don't particularly want a Mosin Nagant.

I'd like to get something that would enable me to get some range time that not too many people have considered. Or would I have better luck searching for a purple unicorn? Maybe that Mosin Nagant wouldn't be so bad after all.

Academy has had 45 ACP off and on, but all jokes aside air rifles and pistols aren't a bad idea for practice. The recoil isn't there, but the mechanics of shooting still are.

I would like to see the expressions on everyone's face if I showed up to the range with my old daisy pellet gun.......
