Is this chicken of the woods?

Not sure, but looks like the same stuff on some trees in the woods behind us.

It is pretty close to a spot that a Mycologist identified as Chicken of the Woods last year. He took it with him to cook up for dinner. I'll add that he hasn't been back though.

Check the underside of the cap. If it has gills it's a jack-o-lantern, which is poisonous. If it has pores, it's chicken of the woods.

I wouldn't eat it even if I was sure it was the hen. Just curious, but I am thinking that it is not. Thanks for the info.
