They get pretty big, I lost 2 this year after cold spells, measured one of them at 42".

I see them in some ponds that I fish, but never can get them to eat anything? What did you use for bait? If you don't mind me asking.

The two I lost wasn't fishing, they just died and washed up on the shore. The only one I ever hooked I threw a broken back Rapala almost on top of it, probably just hit it as a defensive move. Broke off in short order. When I mow they used to line up along the bank to eat the clippings between old age and otters mine are about all gone, going to have to get some more.
