I'll plead guilty to "aggressively poor" 
Well some people here think they’re rich but quite frankly that’s not true.. I’m poor and I know itI'll plead guilty to "aggressively poor"
Scenario one: The item is still available.
In this scenario, you've asked the seller a stupid question, and wasted time when you could have just made an offer to buy or trade.
Scenario two: The item is listed but no longer available.
In this scenario, if you were to make an offer you would be informed that the item is no longer available, or you would be ghosted like often happens.
So there's really no point in asking "iS tHiS sTiLL aVaILaBle"
It serves no point other than to waste the time of responsible seller's. Especially, when the vast majority of the time some dumb **** asks that and you reply yes, they never respond back. Dumb****s!

If we could be assured of the "responsible sellers" part it would not be necessary to ask whether or not the item was still available. And there's the rub. Public opinion on this board seems to highlight a preponderance of irresponsible sellers and as such validates the use of the availability question.
If the answer to the availability question is a "no" then the discussion is over - short and sweet. If it's a "yes" then you can decide whether or not a haggle may be worth it. It may be best not to assume the availability of an item and get a simple "yes" or "no" answer than to be told in a prolonged discussion that your offer/negotiations were not worthy of consideration and come off looking like a cheapskate.

Those that has a Facebook account know that Facebook Market is a HUGE thing. A lot of people from ODT have stuff for sale in there. My wifey buys and sales all kind things in there. And the question OP has prompted in here is a self-generated question in there. Maybe most of them FB buyers are adventuring here on ODT now…
