(IT Help!) Anyone else have or tried AT&T Fiber Internet service?

Register a formal complaint with the PSC when a tech is actively working the issue? No.
You said you can't afford to have service that goes up and down. Tell the tech that AT&T has to fix the problem by a date certain or you will go the PSC. Make them believers. Otherwise they will hide behind the CWA contract and swear that they are doing all they can do. I know, because I worked for them for 25 years.

I'm not the OP. I was just saying to give them a chance first.

I thought you were being sarcastic, but hey that's a thought.

I have ATT DSL cause I live in the boonies. What you describe is a continuous issue for me. Has been forever. I can’t get any other service but ATT or I would. It’s never their problem. Never will be. Just the way things are these days.

Hmmm. That's interesting in a couple ways. At&T has plenty of issues with customer no service and tech support, as do all major telecom companies, it's not exclusive. I've been with AT&T for almost 20 years and have yet to hear their lack of service or getting an issue resolved be contributed to CWA involvement. Maybe where you worked they did but I've never even heard anyone suggest that. Second reason I find it interesting is, I don't think running to the government for help because a private company has a problem that hasn't been resolved as fast as I want to be. I don't typically look to the government for help for much of anything that I can think of. Not how I roll but that's just me.

So, I got tired of Comcast making me call them every 6 months for a "promo" price, even after 15 years as a loyal auto-paying customer. And the best they could do even with a promotion was $59.99 for 150Mbps internet, which goes to $79.99 after the promo, yes, $80 for 150Mbps internet service with a monthly data cap. Ridiculous.

Anyhow, I dumped them and went to ATT Fiber. The reviews for ATT internet were about as bad as the ones for Comcast so I figured it should be good to go. Got 300Mbps for $40/mo for 12 months then it's $60. The service is much, much faster than my Comcast service - I get 400 up/down consistently, and no data cap since I also have Directv.

So, I really want to like the service, but I'm having an odd issue ever since they installed it. Throughout the day, my internet will lag for a few seconds. It doesn't disconnect completely, it simply cannot resolve DNS names is what it appears to be. It only lasts for a few seconds, 20 seconds at the most and then goes back to normal. Every so often I get a "server could not be contacted" white page on Chrome, but the gateway (modem) shows that's it's connected to the internet. I think it has something to do with either congestion on their network, or some type of DNS resolving issue.

I have the tech who installed it working on it, but don't have much faith in him. I work from home and cannot have this service cutting out all the damned time. I REALLY do not want to go back to Comcast either, but I may have no other choice. And of course, I have a house full of females all complaining about how the new wifi sucks (talk about first world problems)!

Anyhow, has anyone had this service and have you had issues with it?
At least you aren't stuck with Century link at 1.5 mbs DL or my hughes net at 1 mbs. WOW and EQ2 are unplayable and I have no other options. I'm paying for two services that only work half the time.

I had the same issues as you are experiencing. Had the AT&T techs out 5 times in 1 month. Went back to Comcast.

That's where I'm at with it. I figured AT&T had their stuff together being that their LTE service is pretty stellar, but guess not. Comcast is expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for in this case too.
