thats what i was wondering

hmm i wonder if there is a way of getting it switched over, you would think they'd have some sort of swap paperwork with those bio-diesel builds
My friend was able to swap it easily but I recently moved to emissions county so it’s not caused any issues for me to get stuck at the tag office for awhile lol

Years ago we did this and were able to get an exemption for having an engine not available in that particlaur vehicle. This on the other hand may be more tricky because they were offered in the Ram, just not a 1500 series. Then again the engine is not a gasser and predates the vehicle, I would check with DMV for sure. Cool build though!

Well I’m friends with the inspector so it’s current on emissions lol

I wouldn't admit that. especially on an open forum...

Wait... if its diesel why emissions??

Well depending on who you talk to at the tag office you can switch it to say D instead of G lol I’ve had friends do it easy but I have not went to the office to change as I’ve not ran into any issues.

In GA, its quite simple for a gas to diesel conversion and everything be legal. Only a few laws to abide by and a few steps to take.

1.Diesel engine must be the same as or newer than the model year of the chassis you want to put it in (EPA requirement)
2. You must have some form of documentation (receipt of engine, installation, fuel system conversion, etc) with photographic proof recommended. Strongly recommended to have OBD-2 system functioning without CEL/MIL as you may be required to prove functionality.
3. Its time for a trip to the local Tax/Tag Office. Once there, advise the clerk that you have had the gas to diesel swap completed, provide your documentation, and request a new title be issued reflecting the change. You may have to complete a MV-1, you may not depending on how easy-going the clerk is. They can change its fuel type without issuing a new title but this can lead to many issues later, particularly insurance related... SO BE SURE TO REQUEST A NEW TITLE BE ISSUED!
4. Some offices may at their discretion request a T-22B by completed by a local LEO but this is usually only done when you don't have sufficient documentation. If they do request it, you'll have to schedule it with the local police/sheriff's office and then come back. If they don't request it, skip this step.
5. Now you get to pay the government some money. Since a new title is being requested/issued, title & ad valorem taxes and a new tag are SUPPOSED to be charged. However, in many cases, you may get lucky and only have to be pay for a title issue and should cost you $18 (counts as a new title, not a duplicate).
6. Go outside and put the tag on your vehicle and you're ready to roll!
