I'm not letting this go to any 'ol schmuck. This gorgeous rifle was bought and carved by someone who knew they were buying a piece of history. The hand carved walnut has two gold-leaf stallions on either side of the stock. The horses have had some paint flake off over the years. But, otherwise, this gun has been well preserved.

No trades. No haggling. You either want it or you don't.

History
This 1965 Marlin Micro-Groove Model 444 was introduced in 1965, and uses the Model 336 lever action mechanism, including the signature open ejection port machined into the side of the receiver, and is chambered for the .444 Marlin cartridge. At its introduction, the Model 444 was the most powerful lever action rifle on the market. With a muzzle energy of more than 3000 ft/lb, the Model 444 was intended for the largest North American game animals. The Model 444 holds 4 cartridges in the magazine and one in the chamber, and was originally fitted with a 24-inch barrel and a straight grip buttstock. It was designed to fill in a gap left by the older .45-70 when that cartridge was not available in any new lever action rifles; at the time it was the largest lever-action cartridge available.
