Yes it has scratches and does not look pristine on the outside. It was a working scope on my patrol rifle on duty and went everywhere with me off-duty, often outside a bag (hence it's surface appearance). Red dot power/adjustment has positive clicks. Dot is very dim to very bright depending on your preference.
