I'm not sure, I bought it less than six months ago. How can I tell?

On the right side of the receiver, if the serial number is directly under where it says "1301 Comp", just in front of the trigger, then it is a gen 2. If its not there, its a Gen 1.

When the Gen 2's were released the Gen 1's were blown out from most vendors at significantly reduced prices. The functional differences between them are actually quite small. For the Comp version, the loading port was opened up a bit and the carrier lever was extended (and the serial number moved).
