The original furniture is solid red oak with a beautiful but rough "cinnamon" red stain. That looks to be WASR laminated furniture.
View attachment 1047503 I believe the upper gas tube guard is original Sar wood. The stock and lower handguard look to be newer laminate. Here is a pic of original Sar hardwood furniture that came off mine. Hope this is helpful and provides some clarification. I should add mine was an early import and Romania made the switch to laminate from hardwood. I have also seen Sar's with furniture like yours so either style would be "correct" just different.
I had a SAR 1 with the same laminated furniture that I bought new. They were sold with both the laminated and non-laminated "stained furniture". The laminated depicted in the photo was not as common but it was supplied with some of the guns, not limited to the WASR. The only thing that looks like its not original is the red pistol grip. All original SAR 1 plastic grips that I've seen were black. The original furniture is solid red oak with a beautiful but rough "cinnamon" red stain. That looks to be WASR laminated furniture.
Yes. I swapped mine out with a US made compliant red/brown from KVAR.The Century made black grip is a compliance part.
