Item Description: Up for grabs is a gun that is sure to make someone's holidays. What we have here is a professionally restored 1920 Colt Pre-Woodsman. I just got this gun 24hrs ago in a bulk purchase from the estate of advanced collector Jim Cyr. If you look up Jim, you'll see the man had a multi-million dollar gun collection with a diverse selection of guns made between 1870-1970.
Of the Woodsmans he had in his collection, this was the only Pre-Woodsman that I saw. I confirmed online with Colt that it was made in 1920 and is a C&R gun. At some point in this gun's 104 year old existence, it was completely restored. Quite honestly, I don't know why it was Jim's collection as collectors at his level don't go for refinished/restored guns. He certainly had the money to buy a original museum grade pre-woodsman so there was some other reason for why he held onto this one. Possibly it was a gun that was sentimental to him (first handgun or something) or possibly he just wanted a very nice shooter. Or possibly he just didn't care that it was refinished. We'll never know.
In any case, I bought it spontaneously because I thought it would be neat to plink with a 104 year old Colt 22lr. It's a John Browning design so I'm sure it still runs like a top. I collect guns from the mid 1970s and onwards, so it really does not fit in my collection so I figure I'd offer it to someone local who appreciates for what it is rather than me do something like chop the barrel and suppress it.
Putting a value on it is a bit tough since I really don't mess with things this old, but judging by GB prices on Pre-Woodsmans, it looks like my asking price is severely under market. I bought it in bulk, so while I don't have an exact figure of what I paid, my asking price is +/- $50 from what I paid so I'm literally just passing on the deal to someone that likes these things or wants to try to flip it.
Judging by the breech face and feed ramp, it does not appear to have been fired post refinishing. However, I might shoot it at my range this weekend. Run a box of CCI through it for nostalgic reasons and to confirm everything functions as it should.
$700
Cash or Zelle. Willing to meet within 10 miles of 30066 (Barrett Parkway, KSU area).
Will not ship. Not interested in trades.
Thanks
