I just checked... ---> Melt value of 12g 14k gold is about $5 less than my asking price. Watch without the strap weighs a hair less than 24g.
I am almost certain this watch contains more than 12g of 14k gold. SO, this is priced under spot.
Vintage Lord Elgin/Chevrolet 25th Anniversary 14k gold presentation watch. 23 Jewels / model 730 / 6 adj.
Marked “14K GOLD” and “S&W.” The inscription on the back reads, “Edward J. Charron // 1933 – 1958 // CHEVROLET // FLINT MFG.”
The mechanical (winding) watch weighs 23.94g without the leather band. Band is not original - fits me on the last or second-to-last hole, and I have an approx. 8-inch wrist.
It appears to run fine, so I did not have it serviced.
