"Also pulled on the bullet and said they were loose in the cases and shouldn't be"

I had a lot of loose (maybe half of the bucket) bullets in the bucket o bullets....I believe this is normal for the bucket.

And they shoot perfectly straight.
True, loose bullets aren't uncommon and could explain a few empty cases but the different colored bullets make no sense.

I am home and looking at the ammo now. No marks on the cases as if fired before and not reloads, but it is a mix of CCI, Super Max and Remington .22lr bullets. Very odd and don’t know how it’s possible unless someone swapped ammo and took it back for a return and put back on the floor for sale. I never knew ammo could be returned especially 1400 rounds in a bucket!! Still good ammo for plinking to me especially right now with it hard to get.

VERY odd. If the bucket is full, I'd just shoot away.

The stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me. Reminds me of working in sporting goods at a Kmart in the 90's. Lady came in fuming mad that the Savage bolt action 243 she bought the day before broke the first time she fired it. I asked her for more details and she said part of the bolt broke after the first shot. She then dropped her "evidence" on the counter: an empty 243 casing. I explained to her that this is the empty case and she grabbed it and left without a word. OP, you are good to go. I'd chalk it up to dealing with a moron and move on.
