The Troy Industries SOCC (Special Operations Compatible Carbine) complete upper receiver is designed to be extremely lightweight and low-profile. Built on high quality forged upper receivers, the SOCC AR upper attaches to any Mil-Spec lower, so you can build the perfect do-it-all rifle. With a 14.5” barrel, the 5.56 loses very little velocity compared to a 16” barrel but it becomes much more maneuverable and easy to carry. Even though it is a 14.5” barrel, this complete AR-15 upper receiver is not an NFA item because the Troy Medieval flash hider is permanently attached, making the OAL 16”. This flash hider is highly effective at suppressing the bright muzzle flash that comes from a shorter barrel. The barrel has a 1:7 twist rate for use with heavier rounds and has a mid-length gas system for optimal reliability.
