Do you know when it was manufactured? What generation is it?
That looks to be a 3rd gen S&W. Uber reliable and quite desirable for concealed carry.
4 digit model number denotes 3rd Gen.
And a doozy at that. This and the 4506/1006 are some of, if not , the best guns Smith has ever produced.
And Kudos on being a decent guy. He'll do anything short of payment plans if you want this one!

Just to throw in my .02 worth...
from the late 80's through the mid 90's I owned MANY of these 3rd gen S&Ws in 9mm, .40, 10mm, and .45. This was the golden age of the Smith auto pistol when things like "melted edges" and Novak sights were the latest and greatest in pistol design. These guns are extremely reliable and that little alloy framed 9mm will make someone an EXCELLENT carry gun.
