The TNVC unit (#4) has variable manual gain. Thus meaning it does not have autogated functionality.

Manual gain is often a more sought after feature due to the no BS adjustment per the mission requirements. Sometimes the autogating can adjust undesirably in certain scenarios.

My TNVC units are autogated and manual gain. They are new. And are Omni VIII.

Manual gain does not mean not autogated.

My lack of experience with $$$ tubes I guess.. I have never used my tubes in dynamic lighting environments and haven't noticed autogating manifest during operation.
