Item Description: After almost a month of discussion with Webly Collectors and Aficionados worldwide, I believe I have identified this revolver and can now list it for sale.
The consensus is that it is a copy of a Webley No 5 Rook made in the Khyber region of Pakistan circa 1890. The only marking I could find was a "937" stamped on the cylinder. The font does not match any known British, German, Belgian, Spanish, or French Webley or Brevet.
The finish has been scrubbed at some point so there's no telling of it was originally blued or stainless. This revolver is mechanically perfect with correct indexing and lockup in both Single and Double Action. The original wood grips are complete and free from chips and cracks although they are slightly wobbly due to minor shrinkage. The loading gate functions correctly. The cylinder has the early cathedral fluting. A couple of the chambers have a little rust inside of them. One of the many quirks of this firearm is that it was manufactured as a smoothbore. There is no rifling or traces of rifling, and the bore is bright and shiny. I have fired this pistol with .38 S&W black powder rounds and it grouped about like you would expect, 6 shots at 20yds held about a 10 inch group.
Since this is antique I will ship to your door for $20 in the Conus. You are responsible for knowing and abiding by your local laws.
