I inherited th rifle and was told that it was manufactured in1942-43 and was returned to the armory and received a new barrel in the early cities.

Receiver was made in November 1944, therefore, your pre WWII statement is incorrect... Lock the oprod back and tell us or post a photo of what is stamped on the barrel at that location.???
