Price Drop on this great little gun so I don’t want folks to feel like it’s too high. Talk with a Buddy that I trust. So $425.00 seems to be fair. Smith and Wesson 38 In very good and that’s lightly. Actually better than that.
No Model number only serial number best I can tell 1956 or 1957
Some of the guru’s know more that I. $425.00 cash
But you will gain on this beauty if you buy it.
Look at the pics. Lock up is very tight no play trigger and cylinder is very tight too.
$575.00 OBRO near me unless we agree different. $425.00 Cash $400.00 today

Bargain price.

I think it is a rare transitional model from a pre-10 to a Model 10. The serial number dates at the change. The stocks match the revolver.
Most likely shipped from the factory April 1958, but was built right at the point in time where S&W started model marking their guns. It is not "rare" but is a nice shooter grade M&P .38 at a reasonable price. It appears to have been re-finished at some point, but matching numbered grips are a plus!

Thanks guys (GA 1911 and Ken L)
Thanks to Leatherhead sent me this
The SCSW says the 1957-1959 serial range is C401924-C429740 so yours is right in between those numbers...BUT they definitely started transitioning to Model marked guns sometime in 1957. So I'd say yours is just before they Model marked it as Mod-10. Definitely 1957.
Thank you guys. I think it's price reasonable and quite honest I've never seen one this old to be so tight, I mean like new. I'm thinking an older gentleman bought it kept it for home use or truck but never shot it much.
Again thanks to these guys, I want to be fair and always have respect to folks that know more. So this thing is my age and I wished I was this tight again.:)
