Why is this a "rare" gun? 10/22s are plentiful aren't they ?

10/22's are from from rare but 10/22 Classics are very rare. Tell me the last time you saw one for sale. This is only the second one I've ever seen. The deluxe walnut stock without the ugly barrel band being most notable. I believe these to have been produced in the 70's.......

These were made in the early 80s (81-82 from what I can find). Very nice.
