That’s what they called these smith not up on all the history on them just what I have alw heard them called

Although the M1911A1 was the standard U.S military sidearm during World War II, more than 350,000 S&W Victory Model revolvers were produced, and they accompanied many U.S. Navy and Marine Corps aviators during pivotal battles of the Pacific Theater.

The "Victory" models I am interested in are old WW2 military guns and will have markings imprinted on the top strap" U. S. Property" and have a lanyard loop attached to the bottom of the grip. The serial numbers are proceeded with a V.
If you gun has any of those type markings, it may be one of those, but many of those old guns were altered in a variety of ways over time.

yes this one has the V in the serial number and the property makings have been ground off and lanyard loop and then reblued I’ve had several of these over the years and all have had the fake bone grips but different barrel links
