Even the M-28 had a rear sight.
Smith never made a 3" Model 27. They did make a 3 1/2". Length is measured from the front of the cylinder, not the front of the frame.

Yours is a 4" 27-2. This is a 3 1/2" 27-2. Someone else mentioned a 3" 27 which Smith never made
