Item Name: FT Marlin 17VS 17HMR

Location: Habersham

Zip Code: 30531

Item is for: Trade Only
Trade Value or Items Looking For: other rifles/shotgun

Caliber: 17HMR

Willing to Ship: No

Bill of Sale Required?: No

Item Description: I may add scope or cash to any trade if trading up.

Up on the trading block is my Marlin 17VS 17HMR. Crazy accurate rifle. Heavy bull barrel, pepper laminated stock, three mags and 2 full boxes of ammo (missing 10 rounds). Rifle is in great shape overall. Shows just a few shinny spots in stainless, tried to show in pics. It bumped up against a metal table in my shop. Stock shows a little wear on front at sling swivel from sling. So light it wouldn't show in picture. Burris Scope is not included in trade unless yours is equipped with equivalent type scope. Scope is a Burris Fullfield 3x9x40 with ballistic plex reticle.

Looking for centerfire caliber rifles or Winchester SX3 12ga. Currently own too many rimfires. Don't have to trade, just seeing what's on the trading block.

Thanks for looking.
Matt

Pre or post Freedom group acquisition?

Not sure? I never seen a JM stamp on it and have no idea of the split in the serial numbers. However this thing is no slouch on accuracy or function. I assume being you are asking you can tell me how to let you know the difference? I bought used from a member on GON years ago. No box or docs.

Was it made in North Haven, CT? That's not the deciding factor as it took 3 years after the acquisition to move the plant, but even post Freedom group guns made in North Haven tended to be more accurate as a whole, of course not necessarily as an individual. You said yours is accurate which is great either way. I have one, from North Haven when they were sourcing the barrels from Green Lake, and it is an absolute laser.

I am not a "shooter" by any means. But with the Remington ammo and scope that is on it. I can hit the brass on a 20 ga shell at 100. She is sweet. I will check when i get home and let you know.

Also based on what I just looked up. If that website was right and you go off the first two numbers of their serial number then it was made in 2003. Does that help?
