I know that the Walmarts (at least some of them) had a "hunter" sale over this past weekend where they guaranteed .22 LR would be in stock, mostly those 100 round packs of CCI (that was the one featured in the ad at the Evans store). I was in the Evans (near Augusta) one on Saturday and they had a good amount of those, limit 3 per person, for $7.37 each, I believe. They also had free coffee and doughnuts. I picked up 2 of the 100 round packs.
With that said, they did not have any bricks, half bricks or anything else. The 100 round packs were all they had. And I went to another local Walmart a few hours later and they didn't have anything at all (not sure if they sold it all or did not participate in the "hunter" sale). The employee told me that was all they had for this special event.
I stopped by Academy and they have 50 round packs in 2 or 3 different brands, about $2.50-3 each. They have had these for a little while now.
Other than this weekend, I have not seen any 22lr in the Walmarts (we have 3 in the Augusta area that I frequent) since Sandy Hook.
So, all I am saying is this weekend may have been a bit of an anomaly, I know it was for my area.
By the way, a Walmart employee told me that the "flippers" lining up at our local stores are Flea Market vendors who buy it and resell at twice the price at their flea market booths. Anyone else have that happening?
Jealous?
replace flea market with pawn shops and it sounds about right
