its over. .22lr shortage is done with

Just the other day I was in Cabela's -- the new store that opened a month or so ago in Acworth --- and a guy at the gun counter there said that he has NEVER seen any .22 rimfire ammo, magnum or long rifle, on the shelves. If any has ever come in, it's gone immediately and never sits on the shelf with a price tag under it, and he's never actually been there when such a shipment came in anyway.

None here in Roswell, but hey I sold my rimfire a long time ago and invested in a socom16, for what it cost to shoot .22 I figured what the hell!!!

I stopped in Walmart in Roswell around lunch time yesterday and they had at least 20 boxes of the CCI. I picked up my 3.

By the way, a Walmart employee told me that the "flippers" lining up at our local stores are Flea Market vendors who buy it and resell at twice the price at their flea market booths. Anyone else have that happening?

Yea, you see those types at any flea market you go to that has ammo. Some are still trying to get $60-70 a brick. The funny thing is you'll now see people openly laugh or remark "that's too high" and the sellers will get mad and red-faced and curse at them. There's another group that has been lowering their prices and it looks like they're trying to off-load what they have. Last time I saw bricks at the flea market, one guy was asking $32/550 for Federal. Walked by him once and walked by him a second time 30 minutes later and I think he sold one brick, whereas several months ago at $32 it would have been gone in a few minutes. At $32, I guess it's not worth it for them to get up and stalk the retail stores like vultures.

I will say one thing about pawn shops: I've had more than one tell me in the past that they didn't buy ammo for insurance/store policy reasons. But I know I went in one of those stores last year and mentioned I had a good bit of .22, he was practically begging me to bring it in and let him buy it from me.

It was gone by the evening.

It's as long way from being back to normal. Sold out everywhere on line, even with the high prices and shipping. Limits were it's not sold out along with high prices.

It ain't over.
