I used to jump in the pool after I shocked it.

When I had it so bad that was the only relief …. Bleach in the bath water

The problem is, like many allergies it builds up in your system over time until your resistance is overcome. If you get exposed enough, most will eventually develop an allergic reaction. I've never had it but think it's starting to develop. I try and avoid as if I am allergic.
My poor wife can look at a picture of it in a book and she's in trouble. Steroid shots have saved her twice.

Only if you know you've been in it and you look around there is often a plant that grows nearby called Jewelweed. It is a wild impatience. the sap is kinda gooey like Aloe. It will 'wash' off the oil that causes a person to breakout.

Back in the day me and a girl I was dating were rolling around on the ground (you know whatting), the next day she was covered from head to toe in poison ivy and I had nothing. Old Army Ranger training books said to make a tea from the leaves and drink it and you will not get it.

I've known some along the way not allergic. I'm so allergic that I wouldn't try that tea, I'd probably kill me
