Jacketed bullet in place of lead bullet

I wouldn't use lead data for jacketed bullets. Jacketed may run higher pressures because of more friction. Now using jacketed data for lead boolits is generally safe.

3.5 Trail boss may not be enough powder for a semi auto, and any more trail boss may not fit in the case. Trail Boss is not recommended, but will work, for jacketed bullet. It was designed for lead.

You, will likely only notice a reduction in velocity when using a jacketed bullet in the place of a lead bullet in the 45 ACP. There may be an increase in case pressure, but unless you are loading the hottest of loads, it should be fine.

You might like using one powder for both bullet types. Alliant Unique is a good 45 powder for any load you would likely ever want to use. I like Universal Clays because it is similar to Unique, but cleaner burning. 800x is good but really only shines at max power loads in the 40s&w and 10mm. Both 800x and Trail Boss are very bulky and help prevent an accidental double charge.

I appreciate all the advice...
I ended up going with a 230 grain Full Metal Jacket Hornady bullet with 5.6 grains of Bullseye behind it...
I went with Bullseye because I read a lot of good things about it when it came to loading 45 ACP
