Most of Jesse's troubles were as a teen and/or early twenties and the minor assault charges were from his early twenties. He has never been convicted of a felony and he had his juvenile record expunged. Case closed regarding his "troubles" with the law.

I read or saw a Jesse James interview a few years back, and claimed that he once stole a Porsche belonging to ice skater Scott Hamilton. If true I guess he didn't get caught.
