Very nice find. If you can't do the work yourself, be prepared for a very long wait. Good shops are backlogged for months. I towed my buddy's 1980 Chevy truck down to a great shop south of Vidalia back in May. The shop is finally going to start on it next week. Supply issues are the main culprit.

that’s my biggest issue. I’m impatient, and already have a couple projects I’m working on. Would like to get it road worthy to start with pretty quickly. Could probably get the current engine trans combo ready with not much effort, but don’t want to waste cash in something that’s not going to be kept.

There's a guy outside of Cleveland that kinda specializes on this Era of Chevy trucks. He has a couple that ate pristine and a K5 that is in process, and used to have a 3 door suburban 4x4. If you want info I can try and put you in touch.

I did my own LS swap into a '67 Camaro.
Bought a complete 5.3L and 4L60E out of a wrecked '06 Silverado w/110K miles. Used the FiTech 70002 stand alone system w/trans controller, Holley 302-2 oilpan.
Pulled the heads on the motor to do a visual inspect and fresh valve job...new valve springs to match the BTR cam.
New oil pump, timing set, and lifters. Ebay shorty stainless headers, replacement Camaro fuel tank w/Walbro 255 in-tank pump & Corvette regulator.
Super easy swap...
A truck would be easier yet...much more room.

I’m either going to remove it, or keep it with a full roof rack and basket in the front to knock the jump look off. It is nice having the head room inside.

Great idea, the more I look at it, I like the top, minus the red lights. Swap out some Hella's in their place, add a roof rack.
