I lived in San Francisco from 1999 to 2002. Beautiful State, fantastic food, super people (NorCal and the Imperial Valley, San Bernardino, etc.) but DAYUM! The taxes were oppressive. I mean ridiculously oppressive. My take home pay was about HALF of my salary. I felt Swiss the whole time I lived there.
