Good Evening ODT,
Memorial Day is coming up. I have consider going down to ST.Pete with my family to fish but I have also consider the Brunswick area. Both areas I have only fished inshore and although I have had success fishing from the banks, this past year I considered kayak fishing was my next venture. In the past year I've kayaked and gotten familiar with my setup fairly well but only in lakes and ponds.
I've marked on my GPS some spots I've seen kayakers hit. Youtube has been some help but I want to make sure I do my absolute best research before I get myself into a bad spot.
I know how to read a tide chart and feel comfortable following it however my question for those who kayak with tide waters..
Is it better to kayak/fish when there is an incoming tide or outgoing tide. I've heard both is okay and that still water is what you want to avoid.
Also
To those that know the area, say I drop my kayak at Sidney Lanier Bridge and want to fish the bone yards to the right of it for sheepshead.. would it be safest to target a certain tide to get to the spot? I know to factor in wind but I'm just a bit nervous since I've seen some big storms that make for choppy waters. I'd hate to get caught in that with an outgoing tide and end up having Wilson for a friend.
Thank you in advance and please excuse my ignorance, just trying to get dinner safely
