I have a 10 year old, used Triji 1.5x TA45. It has been needing new Tritium, but I've been holding off on sending it in. The fiber optic finally kicked the bucket today.

Pulled my AR out the range bag to start zeroing. Removed the turrets (I had it on a different rifle and swapped it) Looked down at the target and the reticle was black except for the bottom right corner of the triangle. I walked out into the sunlight and looked again. Solid black. Guess I will be calling Trijicon on Monday.

The optic came off of a police dept trade in rifle I picked up a few months ago. 10 years old, and heavily used, so I would say it held up pretty good.

It doesn't sound like you killed it at all. The tritium wore out as it's supposed to. However, it sounds like the fiber is broken. That should still work.
Well since the fiber optic broke the tritium illumination doesn't work either. It wasn't bright by any stretch, but it was still very usable at night.
