Back in the 1960s it was a common practice of for owners to remove the center section of fiberglass on a 1963 Corvette and install the rear glass from a 1964+ to improve rear visibility. It was that common practice that made an unmolested car valuable and more desirable.

Not entirely true the 63 is desirable because the split was only made one year because of the visibility issue if you were restoring one in the 90's finding a split window for replacement would have been all but impossible without the help of the Internet.

Your point though that the more are lost the value of the rest increases holds true.
