Labs are easy to train. Just be ready for em to eat everything in sight, like couch legs and gutter downspouts.

You lucked out and got a female dog. I prefer female dogs as they're easier to train much more family oriented.
High energy, & need lots of attention & time when young. Pure labs chew stuff up when young. Time spent now will pay off tremendously when mature. the more time & attention you & wife invest now the better off later on. If just wanting a house dog, a pet, then treat her thata way. she'll pick up on yer day-to-day routines. LOTTA LOVE & KINDNESS IS THE WAy TO GO! Consistancy... Discipline can be done with kindness & patience. LOTS OF PATIENCE! Yer lucky you got a girly dog, as they , no matter the breed seem to be easier to train. Get her spade when time. Try to find a professional obedience trainer in yer area, & take her & wife. I GOTTA LAB/MUTT MIX & IT'S BEEN EASIER THAN MY PEEPS WITH PURE LABS, FOR SOME REASON? She's an 8 year old angel, now! Wonderful!! Love of our lives. But we've paid the vet bills; cleaned up the messes, and learned to not barf when cleaning up dog puke, when she got sick. Still can't break her from chasing deer, rabbits, squirrels & barking at animals & violence on TV!

They are wonderful dogs. To reduce chewing damage, I kept a good supply of rawhide chews available for my dog to chew on. Spend LOTS of time with them and you will have a great dog.
Grain Free Diet. Please. Dogs do not eat grains. You can get decent grain free food almost the same price as the junk.
Crate Train, its super easy to housebreak them this way.
Super smart and easy to train, just make sure you are very positive with traits and reactions you like and reprimand traits you dislike even if they are cute.
that goes double for your wife and kid, if they laugh or praise the dogs bad behavior, it will stick.

you trained your kids---dogs are no different--lol----had 4 labs very smart dogs and easy to train
He is not kidding keep plenty of chew toys on hand , they are very easy to train ,and make the best family dog you could ask for . I have had doberman's sheppards and pitts . I beleive the lab is the best dog ever and that is saying a lot. They do need a lot of room to run and love water, congrats i think you have a winner !!!! PS They do get yeast in there ears in the begaining of the summer this is commen other than that they are easy to care for. do not feed them table scraps or they will look like the dog in the picture.They will eat everything.....

Not sure where you got that B.S. from. Dogs are omnivores, not carnivores. Grain free dog food is just a selling gimmick to increase sales. No proven science behind it.
tell that to my Frenchie... Grain free and then she was allergy free....
