Finished up this Dagger last night. I used Lacewood scales with Osage liners.

Lewis, you should try looking for some Beefwood. Similar appearance to Lacewood at least pattern wise (a bit darker) but it's a harder/denser wood......holds up better than Lacewood. It can be difficult to find here in the US as it's native to Australia and does have a few other "common names" that you might find it called by including: Western Beefwood, Beef Oak, Beef Silky Oak and Silvery Honeysuckle.

I build guitars and do other woodworking including some knife handles over the years. It's a beautiful wood. Unfortunately all I have is cut to pen blank size or I'd shoot some your way to play with.

If you get to looking at Aussie species, if you run across Cooktown ironwood it's a good one too. Dense, tough, takes a beautiful rich brown polish. I may still have a billet large enough for scales, what's your locale?
