late rut in middle ga. ???

Last week on trail cam saw two going at it. This morning was setting up a racoon trap near the deer feeder and saw a leaf free scrape that
not long ago was covered in leaves. Been hunting in middle Ga. for a long time and this seems a little on the late side to me.

Bucks always ready, does come into estrous weird times anymore

Saw a fully racked buck chasing a doe in mid March. I thought everything was over by January.

Does will come in estrus until bred I think it’s a 30 day cycle.starting around October in mid ga.i really believe some of the really early fawns will come in estrus at end Jan and Feb.i have seen spotted fawns in early Nov.twice which had to be breed late.there is still a active scrape at our place near a feeder I seen yesterday.

Bucks are in rut from the time they shed velvet until they drop their antlers and even then they still seek it out. You probably have an overabundance of does that are coming into heat for a second or third time or young fawns hitting their first heat cycle.
