I totally disagree!
This is not something to be taken lightly. It is all about personal safety and information security.
I agree that on the surface it may seem like " the right thing to do". But you have to look and think beyond the present.
Ask yourself these simple questions:
1. Q. Does the government only use funding or technology for what it was originally intended? A. NO
2. Q. Can the government guarantee that this "Backdoor" technology will never be leaked, stolen or...umm.. misplaced? A. NO
3. Q. Aside from the obvious misuse of a private server by the Secretary of State in the past. Is the Government forthright with the public when they make a mistake? A. NO
4. Q. Once the government has established a precedence in court, to force Apple to make a backdoor program. Do you think it will end with just Apple? A. (history proves) NO
5. Q. Considering that the terrorists in San Bernardino were relatively small targets. Why the demand now? When you know damn well they have cell phones from much larger, more important targets. That would disclose a much bigger picture of what is going on in the terrorist community. Either they just threw their hands in the air and said, "oh well, we don't have the technology" (which is highly doubtful). Or they are lying now. I won't answer that one for you. you decide. But, if they are lying. Why? What do they gain?
You can consider this a conspiracy theory on my part, if you like. But, I feel that this is just the tip of huge A$$ iceberg. And "We The People" are the Titanic.
