Letter from Apple to their customers (a must read)

I totally disagree!
This is not something to be taken lightly. It is all about personal safety and information security.
I agree that on the surface it may seem like " the right thing to do". But you have to look and think beyond the present.
Ask yourself these simple questions:
1. Q. Does the government only use funding or technology for what it was originally intended? A. NO
2. Q. Can the government guarantee that this "Backdoor" technology will never be leaked, stolen or...umm.. misplaced? A. NO
3. Q. Aside from the obvious misuse of a private server by the Secretary of State in the past. Is the Government forthright with the public when they make a mistake? A. NO
4. Q. Once the government has established a precedence in court, to force Apple to make a backdoor program. Do you think it will end with just Apple? A. (history proves) NO
5. Q. Considering that the terrorists in San Bernardino were relatively small targets. Why the demand now? When you know damn well they have cell phones from much larger, more important targets. That would disclose a much bigger picture of what is going on in the terrorist community. Either they just threw their hands in the air and said, "oh well, we don't have the technology" (which is highly doubtful). Or they are lying now. I won't answer that one for you. you decide. But, if they are lying. Why? What do they gain?
You can consider this a conspiracy theory on my part, if you like. But, I feel that this is just the tip of huge A$$ iceberg. And "We The People" are the Titanic.

At present time Apple has no way to unlock that phone even if they have it in their labs.

The court is ordering them to develop a new OS which could be pushed to that phone and make it less secure so it could be unlocked.

Reread that. The United States government wants to FORCE with threat of jail a private software company to create, develop, and implement a new operating system that currently does not exist that would jeopardize the security of every apple device around the globe .

I fully support Apple and Tim Cook on this one.

Not only is the US Government trying to force a company to create something (which cost money) by threatening them with jail, but if Apple complies it will pretty much destroy their business in a market they invented.

this is exactly how I feel

this

our government does not have our best interests at heart here. this is not about a terror attack, this is about having the ability to kill privacy

But it will save lives.

Children's lives!!!!!
How many? And at what cost? Isn't this clearly a situation of the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few? Especially when our government could take actions right now that could save countless lives. Like a little bit of common sense profiling. Or maybe border control. Possibly saying hell no to refugees that are definitely military aged males from known extremist regions. But... that's just a thought.
I for one, say to Apple.... Stand your ground!
