Lever guns

Also I think even non-gun people have a family heirloom lever kicking around in a closet or attic, or are willing to buy one when an AR or similar is too scary looking.

Baby boomers are retiring after long and successful careers, and using their pensions and tapping into their savings accounts to pursue their hobbies. Shooting and gun collecting are such hobbies. A whole lot of money, from people with a lot of time on their hands, is chasing a limited number of lever guns on the market.
And people of the baby boomer generation have a soft spot in their hearts for lever guns, the quintessential hunting rifle in the eastern half of the USA, and the gun that won the West.

Couldn't believe what I sold my Rossi .357 for.

Luckily found the .44mag version at CGP for a decent deal.
