Probably just as easy to make a working one as to build a mock-up.

I'VE BEEN LIVING IN A CYPRESS LOG HOME FOR 21 YEARS NOW BUT WITH POWER.JUST PUT METAL OVER OUR 3 PORCHES AND SIT OUT THERE AND WATCH THE CRITTERS MOST OF THE TIME AND COOK OUT. YOUR PLACE LOOKS RELAXING AND QUIET,GOOD LUCK WITH THE BUILD.

Got the ridge pole, rafters and purlins up. Putting the tin on tomorrow and hope to finish the gables.

Heartwood of locust will last a good while, but poplar? Anything done to prevent rot/decay other than keeping rain/water off of it?

Looks great.

I'm going to clean the logs real good and put a sealant on the outside before I put in the chinking.

very nice. I watch Dick Prenneke build his cabin and would love to do the same.

On power, you could put up a couple solar panels to a couple car batteries to run a 12v fridge for ice and cool beverages if needed.

Gonna make the chairs for the porch?

Already have a couple of rockin' chairs and I keep a few chilled beers in the creek

I left my card on the right side of the door opening...Let me know when the hand rails are put on the steps..Wanna make sure after so many creek soaking cold beers, I can still get up the steps!
