Long range shooting near Atlanta

How else would you learn how to be a sniper?

I will have to see if James Jeager has any videos on the subject. Then I can properly advise all of you.

I was at River Bend on Sat morning. What a great range. Its more set up for rifle shooting, but has pistol and shotgun ranges. Its a big area, with many ranges, up to 600 yds. Most people just shoot there, so it's what you're looking for, but you'd have to join. $1000 intial fee, then $200 per year. Need a couple members to sponsor you as well. Its a well maintained range I'd join if I lived in that area. Its just under an hour from 285/400 intersection.

OP, I'll shoot you straight:
-There isn't one in Atlanta. The best thing we have is Georgia Gun Club's 100 yard range but it's an hour outside of Atlanta.
-Any real long distance range is 2 hours away.
-These threads stir the "lets buy land and build one idea" but then the realistic price tag gets thrown out and people suddenly are OK with driving 2 hours every few months to hit the long distance itch

CMP. It's two hours and absolutely worth the trip. With their high tech target system you'll gain a lot of that travel time back by not having to go down range on a regular basis for target maintenance. You never have to leave the bench.

It really is. I make several trips there every year. Good folks, too. The ROs are very knowledgeable and easy going. It's a relaxed and fun environment.

I am still seeking the location of the odt 1900 yard range for settling wagers, and making public call outs worth a point or two.

Arena Training Facility in Blakely GA holds open shoots every other month or so on their 2,000 meter range, with over 20 steel targets from 100 yards out to the maximum distance. They charge $50 to shoot for the day.
