During a training session last year a man and his wife were there and her Hi Point carbine jammed on her almost every drill. This went on all day. It was an unreliable piece of crap. But her husband, bless his heart, had a pretty nice rifle in comparison.
I do not believe all Hi Points are complete garbage. I think their pistols, though ugly, would be a real value if not for the horrible mags.

I was watching this with fingers crossed that they could use Glock mags and drums but oh well...receiver issue, huh? How about a way to mod the receiver?
Anyway, my son's carbine is a hoot to shoot and very reliable but I may be biased - I'm a fan of pistol caliber carbines.
