A lot of work. Very few homeowners have the wherewithal to pull off being their own contractor. I've seen them fail for decades. Not all but many.

Concrete pad poured, detatched garage built (framing, roofing, sheetrock, power, possibly plumbing), vinyl siding, etc. I have zero interest in doing this myself. I work 2 jobs and finding the time to line everything up sounds like a nightmare. Not to mention I work 3rd shift so I'm asleep when most of the world is working.
