I don't really like a Glock but they are great guns.
See if you can find a used XD 45, they are also great guns.

Get a revolver. Any home problem that can be resolved in 7 shots in an "inexpensive" 1911 clone (if it functions perfectly) can probably be resolved in six with a similarly priced revolver. Whatever you get, be sure that you can handle it, loading unloading, etc. with respect to you specific disability. A decent 1911 is difficult to rack for some folks, disability notwithstanding.

I like them because I do not have to pick up the shells during practice.

Seriously. The filipino 1911s arnt that bad and you can catch them in the $400 range sometimes. I would just stick with a commander or government sized and you can upgrade as wanted or needed.
